Meet our Centre Manager
Kia ora
My name is Mel and I’m the Centre Manager here at Active Explorers Kaiapoi. I am passionate about Early childhood Education and strive to ensure the children, team and whanau are happy and supported with a sense of wellbeing and belonging. I have an open door policy at all times, and look forward to getting to know you and your whānau. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, friends and dogs.

About Active Explorers Kaiapoi
At Active Explorers Kaiapoi, we believe tamariki thrive when they feel respected, valued, and free to explore at their own pace. Our philosophy is built around independence, communication, strong relationships, and a deep respect for each child’s learning journey.
Our centre is full of inviting spaces, from large indoor rooms to a big outdoor play area that backs onto a local reserve. Tamariki love our bike track, sandpit, climbing dome, veggie gardens, fruit trees, and relaxing hammock chairs.
We welcome children from birth to five years, with three rooms tailored to each age and stage. Daily life includes regular outings to local parks and the library, nature play, sports sessions, and visits to nearby schools to help older children transition confidently into the next chapter of their learning.
