Meet our Centre Manager

Kia ora

My name is Sue Wilson and I am the Centre Manager here at Little Wonders Cromwell.

I have been working and studying within the Early Childhood industry since 1989 and completed my Diploma of Early Childhood Education (0-6) in 1999 in New Zealand. I have had many exciting opportunities within the Early Childhood industry both in New Zealand and in Australia and seen many changes within the ECE sector. I have now been teaching and managing early childhood education centres for over 25 years.

My personal philosophy is one of respect for our children, our families and our teachers and to ensure there is quality of care and education at all times. I have much knowledge and experience to support our educators and our families, and I enjoy watching our children grow to become the best that they can be whilst they experience all that we can share with them to inspire a love of learning.

At Little Wonders Cromwell, we believe in giving children the freedom to learn. Located just moments from Goldfields and Cromwell Primary Schools, our centre is thoughtfully designed to foster confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.

We offer spacious indoor and outdoor environments, including expansive natural play areas that support exploration, creativity, and meaningful connections. With dedicated spaces for every age and stage, we create a safe, inclusive setting where children feel valued and inspired.

Centre life is rich and vibrant, with age-appropriate experiences across three unique rooms. From unhurried infant routines to stimulating preschool adventures, our days are filled with play, discovery, and celebration. Weekly excursions, bike days, birthday milestones, and a transition-to-school programme ensure every child feels supported on their individual journey.

Our Rooms

Little Wonders Cromwell features three separate rooms, each tailored to support children at different stages of development. Our nurturing, age-appropriate environments encourage safe exploration, meaningful connections, and joyful learning every day.

0–2 years

Caterpillar Room

This warm, nurturing space supports our youngest children through calm, unhurried routines inspired by RIE and Pikler philosophies. Teachers follow each child’s home routine to ensure a gentle and personalised start to their learning journey.

2-2.5 years

Chrysalis Room

Inspired by Pikler and Reggio approaches, this homely and calm environment supports toddlers in building confidence, forming relationships, and exploring their world through safe and meaningful experiences.

2.5–6 years

Butterfly Room

A vibrant, engaging space where children lead their own learning. With support from expert teachers, they explore through inquiry, play, and rich learning experiences.

Children aged 4 and over join the Kārearea group for our transition-to-school programme, which includes school visits and the Perceptual Motor Programme (PMP). Younger children in the Trail Blazers group enjoy exciting excursions every third week.
