Meet our Centre Manager

Kia ora

My name is Catherine Jones and I am the centre manager here at Pascals Herne Bay.

I have been part of the Pascals whanau since 2019, we are lucky to have a beautiful heritage building and large outdoor space to spend our days alongside the tamariki.

I am a qualified and registered teacher, holding both a Bachelor in Education ECE and a Grad Dip Primary.

At Pascals Herne Bay, we’re all about fostering a sense of belonging and curiosity. We focus on making sure each child feels supported, respected, and valued, while encouraging them to develop a love for learning. Our commitment to sustainability helps children connect with nature and understand the importance of looking after our planet, while celebrating the diversity within our community.

Our centre is designed with your child’s growth in mind. It features large, natural outdoor spaces perfect for exploring, as well as bright, engaging indoor areas that stimulate creativity and learning. We offer a garden-to-table programme, delicious and nutritious meals, and a space where every child can be themselves.

We offer rooms that cater to children of all ages, each one designed to suit their developmental needs. From hands-on learning experiences for toddlers to more structured experiences for older children, we’re dedicated to helping them grow and explore at their own pace.

Our Team

Our team is like a big, supportive family. We love what we do, and it shows in the warm, caring environment we create for both children and families. We work closely with parents to make sure each child’s journey is filled with love, learning, and lots of fun. Our diverse team brings a mix of backgrounds, experiences, and personalities to the centre, making it a vibrant and welcoming place for everyone.

Our Rooms

Our centre feels like a second home—bright, open, and full of life. We’ve got plenty of outdoor space with trees, grass, and sandpits for kids to run, explore, and get their hands dirty. Inside, the rooms are carefully designed to encourage play, learning, and growth in a safe, welcoming environment.

0–2 years

Fern Room

The Fern Room is a peaceful, nurturing space for our littlest learners. It’s all about sensory play and gentle exploration, where infants and toddlers can develop motor skills and experience the world around them in a calm, comforting setting.

2-3 years

Rākau Room

The Rākau Room is where toddlers start to explore their independence. With lots of opportunities for imaginative play and group learning experiences, children in this room engage in hands-on learning while building social skills and gaining confidence.

3–5 years

Koru Room

In the Koru Room, our preschoolers are encouraged to stretch their creativity and curiosity. Here, children dive into early learning experiences like arts, crafts, and basic literacy, while also developing important social and problem-solving skills through group projects and nature-based learning.
