Helen will be here from the Heart Foundation chatting about fussy eaters and strategies to work through those challenging times!

A message from Helen – “We all want our children to be happy eaters, to feel comfortable eating in any situation and to enjoy food.  Learning to like a certain food can take time, but thankfully childhood is all about learning opportunities.  All children go through different developmental periods of being a selective eater, and this is a very normal part of their food journey.  As parents we get to support this journey.  Whilst this can be a confusing and worrying time, if we are consistent and stay away from using tricks or pressure, a child will learn about personal preferences, self-regulation, doing things for themselves and also what hunger and fullness feels like, so that they grow up to have a happy and healthy relationship with food.”

Do you need afternoon Childcare? We can help with that – RSVP – tell us you are coming so we can plan (phone number above ask for Kathy or Leslyn) and on the afternoon our teaching team will support tamariki (children) with activities in one of our classrooms enabling you peace of mind whilst you attend.
