Celebrating Diwali Together! 🎉

This month, our tamariki and kaiako came together to celebrate Diwali, the ‘Festival of Lights.’ The excitement was palpable as everyone dressed up in bright, colorful attire, ready to share in the joy of the occasion. Our talented kaiako, Lacs and Parul, led a captivating performance that brought the whole community together. The tamariki were delighted, joining in with dances and laughter, creating a vibrant, memorable celebration. It was a heartwarming experience that truly illuminated our day!

🎶 Musical Explorations in Preschool! 🎶

Our tamariki's love for music is flourishing! This week, we embraced their growing interest by inviting Joan and her family to share their musical talents with us. The children were fascinated as they listened to the electric guitar and violin, sparking curiosity and excitement. It was a wonderful opportunity to introduce new instruments and sounds into our world, and we can’t thank Joan and her family enough for enriching our tamariki’s musical journey!

Celebrating Our Graduates 🎓

Today, we celebrated the graduation of three remarkable tamariki. While it’s always bittersweet to say goodbye, we are incredibly proud of their growth, achievements, and the joy they’ve brought to our community. To make the occasion extra special, a bubbly fairy made a surprise appearance, adding a magical touch to the celebrations. We wish our graduates all the best as they embark on their next adventure—may it be filled with curiosity, success, and endless joy!

Honoring Fijian Language Week

This week, we’ve been celebrating Fijian Language Week, immersing our tamariki in the rich culture and traditions of Fiji. Miriam’s grandmother, Catherine, graciously joined us for a special mat time, sharing fascinating insights into Fiji’s heritage. The tamariki learned about the beautiful islands of Fiji and sat on a traditional Fijian mat, symbolizing the warmth and simplicity of Fijian homes. A heartfelt thank you to Catherine for helping our tamariki connect with and appreciate this vibrant culture.

🎉📚 World Teacher’s Day Celebration! 🌍🍎

On World Teacher’s Day, we celebrated the incredible kaiako who nurture, guide, and inspire our tamariki. Their unwavering dedication, patience, and love shape young minds and create a learning environment full of joy and growth. We are so grateful to all our teachers for the profound impact they have on our tamariki and our community. Thank you for all the love, care, and wisdom you bring to every day!

📸 Photo Day Magic ✨

Today marked the start of our annual Photo Day, and it was nothing short of magical! Our talented photographer, James, captured the biggest smiles and the most special moments, creating memories that will last a lifetime. We can’t wait to see the beautiful photos and treasure these snapshots of joy and learning. A huge thank you to everyone for making Active Explorers Ellerslie such a wonderful place to grow, explore, and create lasting memories.

Family and Dramatic Play

Family and Dramatic Play

Young children are learning their place in the world every single day in multiple ways. The ideas that they form from observing the world around them will often show up when children are engaging in family and dramatic play, but what exactly is family and dramatic play and what are the benefits of your child engaging in it?

A month full of Cultural Celebrations and Learning!

A month full of Cultural Celebrations and Learning!

Kia Ora! This month has been full of exciting activities and cultural celebrations at our preschool! We celebrated Cook Islands Week and Tongan Language Week by learning about greetings, colors, numbers, and the days of the week from these cultures. The children enjoyed making Tongan “Otai” and learning some Cook Islands language from one of our dads. We also had a visit from the librarian who entertained the children with puppet stories and songs. A highlight was our parent evening where we discussed raising resilient children. Parents learned about language development and strategies for managing common behavior issues. The children had fun with our homemade Olympic Games, where they created and awarded their own medals. We also raised awareness about asthma with the Sailor Asthma Show, presented by Aimee Gaestro. The Kapa Haka group from St Mary’s School performed for us, and it was a fantastic experience. Be sure to check out the videos! Our oldest children visited St Mary’s School to see what primary school is like and what they can expect. It’s been a busy month, and we look forward to more enriching experiences for the children.
