The story of the Wonky Donkey has captured the hearts of children (and adults) across the globe – and this week youngsters at Lollipops Birkenhead were treated to a visit from the author himself. Craig Smith.

The children – and a few parents – were kept enthralled with storytelling, songs, and even a puppet show.

“It was a really great visit and the children were fascinated,” says centre manager Sunita Perikala. “Some families purchased Craig’s autographed books, and he also donated some of them for our November fundraising.”

This is the first time a published author has visited children at Lollipops Birkenhead, and it is a great lead-in to the centre’s upcoming Book Week which will feature a host of exciting activities. There’ll be storytelling by teachers and children, book character dress up days, and children will also have the chance to create their favourite book character through creative arts.
