Kia ora

Ko Ajah taku ingoa, he uri ahau no Ngapuhi, I tipu ake ai ki Rotorua. Kei Tamaki ahau e noho ana, a e mahi ana ahau ki Lollipops Browns Bay. My name is Ajah, I am a descendant from Ngapuhi and grew up in Rotorua. I now live in Auckand and work at Lollipops Browns Bay.

I’ve worked in the sector for close to seven years now. I discovered my passion for ECE whilst raising my own children, now teenagers. Having dreamed aloud many times with my Whanau of the perfect place for children, it was a highlight in my career when the opportunity for me to manage the centre arose.

This has led to an intense time of creation, learning and growing and I consider myself very privileged indeed to be a part of the lives of the children here at Lollipops Browns Bay.

Our centre provides a welcoming, vibrant space where children are encouraged to explore, learn, and develop at their own pace. With a strong emphasis on outdoor play, cultural diversity, and community involvement, we create a holistic environment for your child to thrive.

We offer a range of exciting learning experiences tailored to different age groups, including regular excursions to local spots like Browns Bay Beach, East Coast Bays Library, and Freyberg Park. Our programme is designed to meet the needs of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, with learning experiences that grow with each stage of development.

Our Rooms

Our centre is a warm, inviting place where children can explore, create, and learn. With plenty of natural light and spacious outdoor areas, each room is thoughtfully designed to support the unique needs of different age groups while encouraging both structured learning experiences and free play.

0–2 years

Te Ruma o Tui (Tui Room)

In the Tui Room, our youngest learners enjoy a calm, sensory-rich environment that supports their early development. Learning experiences are designed to nurture secure attachments and promote exploration through touch, sight, and sound.

2-3.5 years

Te Ruma o Kiwi (Kiwi Room)

The Kiwi Room is all about helping toddlers discover and grow. With a balance of structured learning experiences and independent play, we support their developing motor skills, language, and social abilities while fostering their natural curiosity.

3.5-6 years

Te Ruma o Piwakawaka (Piwakawaka Room)

In the Piwakawaka Room, preschoolers are encouraged to dive into project-based learning, exploring literacy, numeracy, arts, and science. Through fun, hands-on learning experiences, they gain the skills and confidence needed to transition smoothly to school.

The overall environment is warm, safe, and welcoming, truly placing children at the heart of everything it does. The centre manager demonstrates a clear and well-developed management philosophy, consistently upholding a child-centered approach. She not only focuses on daily care but also places strong emphasis on children’s emotional, social, and cognitive development. The centre is thoughtfully divided into three rooms according to age and developmental stages: the Baby Room, Toddler Room, and Preschool Room.
