Kiaora

Stacey has been a Kaiako at Lollipops Petone since 2013, starting as a teacher in training and graduating with a Bachelor of Teaching in 2016.

Over the years Stacey has held various roles at Lollipops Petone and worked in other Evolve centres in the region.

Growing up in a large family Stacey has always had younger siblings around, which created a passion for working with younger children.
Stacey lives in Lower Hutt with her daughter Chloe. In their spare time, they love to be around family and make the most of learning and growing together.

About Lollipops Petone

At Lollipops Petone, we’re all about creating strong ties to the local community. We integrate the history and beauty of Petone into our learning programmes, with regular trips to the library and walks along the Esplanade, giving children a real sense of place.

Our centre is purpose-built, with spacious learning environments and large outdoor areas that encourage play and creativity. Children love being outdoors, whether they’re riding bikes, getting stuck into the sandpits, or lending a hand in the garden.

We offer a balanced approach to learning, with a mix of teacher-led learning experiences and opportunities for children to explore on their own. With dedicated spaces for different age groups, we make sure each child receives the right support to grow and learn.

Our team at Lollipops Petone is passionate about building meaningful relationships with both children and families. With a Centre Manager who’s been with us for over 10 years, we’ve got a lot of experience in providing a loving, supportive environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to reach their potential.

Lollipops Petone is all about open, inviting spaces that encourage exploration and play. With plenty of room indoors and outdoors, our children have the freedom to learn and create in a safe and stimulating environment.

Kiwi Room (Small)

0 - 15 months

Kiwi Room

The Kiwi Room is a calm, nurturing space where our youngest tamariki can explore and rest. It’s full of sensory learning experiences, soft toys, and safe, inviting areas for babies to learn through touch, sound, and movement.

Huxley Sandpit

15 months - 2.5 years

Fantail Room

The Fantail Room is where toddlers can start to stretch their wings. With a mix of structured learning experiences and free play, it helps children develop motor skills, language, and independence. There are plenty of resources and experiences to spark curiosity and creativity.

Tui Room Duplo

2.5 - 3.5 years

Tūī Room

In the Tūī Room, tamariki are encouraged to express themselves through creative play and hands-on learning. With a focus on developing early literacy, numeracy, and social skills, this room is designed to support growing independence and imaginative thinking.

Excursion Kakapo

3.5 - 5 years

Kākāpō Room

The Kākāpō Room is where our preschoolers get ready for school. It’s a space designed for learning through play, with lots of opportunities for problem-solving, early reading and writing, and community-building experiences that prepare children for the next step in their learning journey.

Our daughter has been in three different childcare settings. She started in a small in-home care environment with just two other children, which was perfect for her early years. She then moved to a larger centre in the city, and when we relocated to Lower Hutt, we made the difficult decision to move her to a local centre. From day one, our daughter felt welcomed, safe, and happy at Lollipops Petone. Without a doubt, it has been the best childcare environment she has experienced. The centre has a fantastic indoor-outdoor flow, and the outdoor area is incredibly engaging, tactile, and perfect for adventurous children who love to explore while still being in a safe and nurturing environment. We quickly learned to keep a dedicated set of daycare clothes because she often came home muddy and sandy! But she was always tired in the best way, happy, fulfilled, and excited to tell us about her day. On weekends, she often asks if she can go to Lollipops, and we've even had occasions where we've had to take her to the front door to show her that the centre is closed. Her teachers are always the first people she wants to share her life adventures with, and she even talks about them in her sleep. She has made so many wonderful friends and created countless happy memories. The genuine care and connection she has with both the staff and the other children has been truly special to watch. After she started at the centre, I was a little surprised by some of the online ratings because they didn't reflect our experience at all. While I can't comment on anyone else's experience, after looking through the reviews, it seemed that a small number of negative reviews had a significant impact on the overall rating. Based on our experience, the overall score doesn't accurately reflect the quality of care our daughter has received. Most importantly, our whānau would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of the staff for the love, care, support, and encouragement you have given our tamāhine. Thank you for helping her grow into a confident, happy, and curious little person. We will always be grateful for the role you have played in her early years.
